This chart tracks Christmas-music listening as a share of total Spotify streaming, by country by day. Some interesting notes:

• In the Philippines, the Christmas-music season opens with unmistakable decisiveness on September 1. I initially thought this was a data error. It is not.
• Other countries don't get in the spirit until November 1, but after that Scandinavia quickly takes over.
• Ultimately, in Christmas music as in black metal, you cannot compete with actual Northern winter.
• Premature pre-Christmas Christmas-music listening surges surreptitiously on the weekends.
• Eventually the worms will get you.
